26th Annual Research Forum: Educational Possibilities

Forum 2011 Invitation

University of Notre Dame, 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm, Saturday 13 August

The Forum activities are in The University of Notre Dame Australia's new education building, the Tannock Hall of Education, corner of Cliff and Croke Streets, Fremantle. Consult your street directory for parking locations, or for public transport, note the close proximity to Fremantle Railway Station. The Educational Possibilities Forum presents research that: asks thought-provoking questions about learning, education and education research; provides insight into ongoing and completed research relevant to learning and current educational issues; and speculates on the future of education and education research in diverse research fields.

Submitting an abstract WAIER invites submissions of abstracts from individuals and groups wishing to attend, make a presentation, or conduct a symposia or panel discussion on topics and research related to education or the Forum theme, Educational Possibilities.
Abstracts are due by Thursday 28 July 2011 (late submissions may be considered if time slots are available). Please refer to the page detailing the requirements for [Abstract Submission]. To submit an abstract, download the [Registration Form], complete and submit by email to [registration@waier.org.au] (the form is a Microsoft Word file which combines abstract submission and registration functions).

Keynote address Jan Herrington is a Professor of Education at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. The last 20 years of her professional life have been devoted to the promotion and support of the effective use of educational technologies in learning in schools and universities. Jan's current research focuses on authentic learning, mobile learning, and the use of authentic tasks as a central focus for Web based courses. She has published over 140 refereed journal articles, conference papers and chapters, and several books including a co-authored book, A Guide to Authentic e-Learning. Photo: Jan Herrington

Feature presentation Publishing your research in a journal by Dr Clare McBeath, Editor of Issues in Educational Research for 11 years, and Dr Roger Atkinson, Production Editor for Australasian Journal of Educational Technology since 1997. This will be an interactive session including opportunities for participants to describe their own experiences in 'getting published', happily or ... otherwise.

WAIER Awards Forum activities include presentation of WAIER's [Early Career Award]. Nominations for this Award are now invited, closing 1 June 2011, please see the [Award Nomination Form]. WAIER's [Postgraduate Awards] will also be presented at the Forum (recipients for each University are nominated by the University's Faculty or School of Education).

Please submit early - the early bird $10 discount ends on 10 July.
