Keynote address: Closing the Gap for Aboriginal Students: Lessons from research.
Gary Partington – Honorary Professor, School of Education, Edith Cowan University
Despite efforts to close the gap in outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, success has been elusive. One reason is that students do not become committed to programs for change. Based on longitudinal research studies on the Follow the Dream/Partnerships for Success and the Happy Kids programs, Professor Gary Partington will propose in this keynote address a model of intervention for the education of Indigenous students that gains student commitment and results in improved achievement, as well as better attendance and social-emotional wellbeing.
