Jack's PhD study in Education examines various conceptions of teaching that were held by new academics or tertiary teachers both before and after an intervention. Qualitative data from participants in the study were gathered using an online journal system and a third party triangulatory questionnaire. The online journal: captured the ongoing theoretical development of new teachers through a set of activities; and tried to manage the participants along the way. This talk discusses the process and experience of using this online tool. The ins and outs of Jack's data gathering experience will be followed by a discussion to allow the audience to share their own ideas and (online) research needs.
